Shop Update

We are currently using mostly hand-powered tools to do the forge work here at MRJ Metalworks.

Gas Forge and small anvil

One of the larger tools that we use is a #6 Blocksage and Sweeny Flypress

Flypress

The newest tool in the shop is an Ameribrade 2 x 72 belt grinder

A Trip on the Way-Back Machine

So, tonight I cracked open the old way-back machine (an old hard drive) looking for my old logo.

Found it! Yay!

Also found some photos of my original knives from ’03 – ’04.

Here they are in all their amateur glory…

Small utility from my own forge-welded steel. Stabilized Walnut burl handle and custom pins.
Small Bamboo handled neck knife with sheath that incorporated magnets to hold it in place. A nice hamon is visible in this blade.
Small utility knife made from my own forge-welded steel with Apricot wood handles and custom pins.
Small hunter with Purple Heart wood handles.
Small Bowie with nickle guard, custom pin and Cocobolo handle.

Stay tuned for more updates. My forge just arrived and I am getting ready to start working with hot steel again!
